So Where Does it Come From Anyway?

Figured maple wood, also known as curly, fiddleback, tiger, flamed, ripple, and more, is not its own species but a phenomenon that occurs in some trees. The wood is extremely reliable yet easy to work with, making it a favorite for many woodworkers worldwide. Its stripes are easily brought out by any oils, stain, and finishes except of course for paint. The final product is always stunning.

Tiger maple is quite often used in the manufacturing of furniture including wall decor, tables & chairs, lamps, beds, nightstands, cabinets, entertainment centers, chests, coffee and end tables, shelves, and much more. Because of its durability, maple furniture can easily last through multiple generations if cared for properly.

Tiger maple is an excellent tonewood and therefore very commonly used by luthiers (stringed instrument maker) in the manufacturing of musical instruments such as acoustic and electric guitars, fiddles, ukuleles, violins, bass guitars, and more. Other uses for Tiger maple include the manufacturing of the following items: Knives, pens, handles, lamps, candlesticks, chairs, tables, cutting boards, pool cues, keepsake and jewelry boxes, home décor, pistol grips, and much more!

Hard or soft, with so many potential uses, it is no wonder woodworkers and wood & lumber enthusiasts everywhere love figured maple! The Tague Mountain Maple Supply family loves Tiger maple and strives to share this beautiful wood with woodworkers everywhere!
